The Hess Art Collection: 13th Annual Animation Show of Shows
Presented by Acme Filmworks and Animation World Network | Curated and Presented by Ron Diamond
Saturday, October 22nd | 1:00PM | A the Hess Collection Winery
Featuring nine award winning and notable animated short films, THE ANIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS is a program of new animated short films selected from major animation festivals around the world. In 1998, Ron Diamond, former producer of The International Tournée of Animation and The Animation Celebration, recognized a noticeable lack of animated short films in the theatrical circuit. He set out to curate a collection of new and significant artistic and narrative shorts from those he had seen during the past year at major animation festivals. Screenings of each new edition of The Show of Shows begin every Fall, just after the close of the animation festival season. This is a great opportunity to see amazingly artistic films that will likely never be seen beyond these small shows. Past programs have included numerous films that have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations, including four Oscar winners — The Lost Thing, The Danish Poet, Ryan, Harvie Krumpet, Father and Daughter, and La Maison en Petits Cubes. The selections range from traditional narrative and character-driven CGI to more experimental works by directors such as Gianluigi Toccafondo, Jerzy Kucia, Piotr Dumala, and Steve Woloshen. Don’t miss the ANNIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS!
Space is limited to 40 seats. Contact Robert rceballos@hesscollection.com or 707 255 1144 x 244 to reserve a seat. Depending on demand, we may open a morning screening at 10:00 please call for details

Hess Collection Takes Part in California Sustainable Winegrowing Program
Consumers trying to figure out if a winery lives up to its "green" claims now have a little extra help: The new statewide Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing (CCSW) program, introduced Jan. 13. The CCSW program helps define the concept of sustainability, with the goal of giving it much the same weight as organic and biodynamic certification. Third-party auditors will visit participating wineries and growers to verify that they follow a broad range of environmentally friendly practices.

Fine Art Meets Fine Wine in Napa Valley
| October 4, 2009
Jaime Gross of The New York Times has this to say about The Hess Collection:
“...Visitors today can sip the estate’s highly regarded cabernet sauvignon in a farmhouse-style tasting room before touring the galleries, which display about 120 blue-chip works, including photorealistic paintings by the Swiss artist Franz Gertsch and an installation of melted and cracked rocks by the British artist Andy Goldsworthy. Strategically placed windows offer glimpses of the working winery: from the gallery staircase, an overhead view of giant fermentation tanks, and, in the West Gallery, a cutout overlooking a rapid conveyor belt where bottles are cleaned, filled, corked and labeled, at a rate of 100 a minute.” Click here to read the whole article.
